GAMBIER -- The Hiram College men's basketball team lost to Kenyon College 76-68 in a North Coast Athletic Conference game at Tomsich Arena on Wednesday.

Hiram (10-9, 4-6 NCAC) got off to a fast start, outscoring Kenyon (10-9, 4-6 NCAC) 8-2 in the first 2:05 of the first half. The Lords answered back with a 13-0 run to take the lead by seven points (15-8) at the 12:12 minute mark. The Terriers then went on a 9-2 run of their own that ended in a 3-pointer by junior guard Aaron Stefanov (Stow) to even the score at 17-17 with 10:32 left in the half. Hiram eventually regained the lead following another triple by Stefanov and led by as many as five points in the final minutes of the period, but would only have a 32-30 edge at the break.

Kenyon took the lead for good with 16:02 left in the game despite Hiram getting to within a point on numerous occasions, including a 62-61 deficit with 5:24 to go. But a 3-pointer on the Lords' ensuing possession extended the margin to four points, and solid free-throw shooting down the stretch allowed Kenyon to record its largest lead of the game at 76-65.

The Terriers were led in scoring by senior guard Alan Sheppard with 16 points on 6-of-14 shooting. Stefanov was second in scoring with 15 points, and senior forward Steve Zivoder (Garfield H.S.) rounded out the high scorers with 13 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
