Kent State nominates high-flyer Chris Evans for dunk contest

The Kent State University athletic department has opened a public campaign for high-flyer Chris Evans to be considered for selection the College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships.

The competition will be held on April 4 and televised by ESPN.

Evans, a senior, is averaging 17.1 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game this season. He is also the Golden Flashes' team leader in blocks (15) and steals (37).

Nominations for the contest closed on Monday night and 16 will be selected from that list and added to a bracket for public voting, which will begin on Feb. 11. From the bracket, four finalists will be invited to the actual contest in April.
