Kent State men's basketball prepares for stiff Big Ten test

Kent State Leaders: Senior forward Chris Evans leads the Flashes in scoring (16.8 ppg), rebounding (7.4 rpg) and steals (2.6 spg). Senior guard Randal Holt is second in scoring (15.2 ppg, 3.2 rpg), followed by sophomore guard Kris Brewer (8.4 ppg, 3.4 rpg).

Scouting Nebraska: The host Cornhuskers are 3-0 in the Joe Cipriano Nebraska Classic, and can win the event with a victory over KSU. Among those three wins are narrow triumphs over Valparaiso (50-48) and Tulane (61-57). ... Brandon Ubel, a 6-foot-10 senior forward, leads the Cornhuskers in scoring (15.3 ppg) and rebounding (6.8 rpg). Ray Gallegos, a 6-2 junior guard, is second in scoring (13.8 ppg) followed by 6-5 senior guard Dylan Talley (13.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3 assists). ... Nebraska is allowing only 55.5 points per game. ... The Flashes are coming off a thrilling 69-68 victory over Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday. Senior guard Randal Holt nailed the game-winning shot with just over one second remaining.

Senderoff on Nebraska: "It'll be a big challenge for us on the road against a Big Ten team. They've got great size. They've won a lot of close games. They're a really good defensive team. They make you play in the halfcourt. They're really big, and physical at every position."

Senderoff on Kent State: "We're gonna have to defend well, defend the paint well. It's the first time we're going on the road, and it'll be interesting to see how we respond."
