Record crowd takes part in Kent 5k Turkey Trot

The largest-ever crowd in event history gathered on Thanksgiving morning for the Kent Parks & Rec Turkey Trot.

Over 440 racers gathered for the 5k run and an additional 40 children took part in children's fun run. The 5k path took racers through the new leg of the Portage Hike and Bike Trail from John Barn Tannery along the river ending in Fuller Park.

Kent resident David Mars took first place overall in the 5k run with a time of 16:28. Rootstown resident William Morgan followed in second with a time of 17:21.

A 12 year-old, Kent resident Kaliel Murray was the highest female finisher, running the event in a time of 19:07.
