Kent State deputy athletic director Tom Kleinlein has been named the Director of Athletics at Georgia Southern University in an official announcement made by the university Monday night.

“This is a well-deserved opportunity for TK and his family,” said Kent State athletic director Joel Nielsen. “I look forward to follow the success of Georgia Southern under his leadership.”

Kleinlein was named Kent State’s deputy athletic director in September of 2011 after previously serving as the Golden Flashes’ executive associate athletic director since the spring of 2010.

Kleinlein is expected to start his new position in January of 2013.
