Plant more veggies for hungry neighbors

Published: May 15, 2017 4:00 AM

Attention gardeners! As you rush to get your veggies in the ground, please consider planting an extra row to share with your local food pantry, hot meals program or shelter. Your extra produce will provide fresh, nutritious food to families, senior citizens and disadvantaged individuals who are in need. In 2016, our pantries provided food for more than 14,030 families, and our hot meals programs served more than 118,758 meals.

Please share the bounty of your summer gardens with the Change Hunger member closest to you: Ravenna Center of Hope/Christian Cupboard, The Salvation Army in Windham, Crestwood 4Cs, Randolph-Suffield-Atwater Food Shelf, Streetsboro Community Pantry, Skeels-Matthews Community Center, Brimfield Community Cupboard, Kent Social Services/The Lord's Pantry, Miller House and Safer Futures.Thank you for your generosity.

Working together and sharing our resources, we can Change Hunger in Portage County.
