Santa's Closet served nearly 200 children

A big "Thank you" to the many individuals and businesses that contributed not only their goods but also their time in making the 2012 Santa's Closet at the Phyllis Zumkehr County Clothing Center a huge success. We could not have accomplished this project without all of your support.

A wonderful and exciting time was had by 197 children shopping for their family members. Children selected two books and a stuffed animal while they were waiting their turn with Santa. They sat on Santa's lap, had their pictures taken and received a toy from Santa.

Children chose three gifts with our elves (youth groups from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ravenna, Kent United Methodist Church and Stanton Middle School Builders Club) and then the gifts were wrapped and tagged. After the gifts were wrapped, the children then went to meet their parents and received an orange and a candy cane from an elf.

All items that were in Santa's Closet were new and were donated throughout the year; 220 baskets for women and 35 baskets for men were assembled.

Thank you to all who donated and worked all year to make this the best Santa's Closet and for giving children the experience and fun of choosing gifts for their family. We appreciate everyone's compassion and cooperation. We are looking forward to Santa's Closet in 2013.
