Donors aided over 300 seniors at Christmas

Because of the kindness and generosity of the people of Portage County, the 2012 Be a Santa to a Senior program was an overwhelming success. I want to thank the executive committee who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the program; the local merchants, M&J Medical Supply, Portage County Senior Center, the RAC, Curves, Emeritus and Walmart, all of Ravenna, the Arctic Squirrel in Kent and Crossroads Hospice, as well as other locations throughout the county that allowed used to put up trees and collected gifts; and Portage Senior Services Network for their generous donations.

Thank you to the Record-Courier for the media coverage that helped create awareness of the program.

This was truly a community effort that brought joy to the lives of over 300 seniors in our county this holiday season.
