Letters: Grateful for passage of Crestwood school levy

Wendy Benton Published:

It's with tremendous gratitude and humble appreciation that the Crestwood Education Association extends a huge "Thank you" to the Crestwood voting community.

Over the past couple of years, the state and federal government made moves that dramatically impacted our school district. Although we've all tried to keep these cuts from impacting our students, they have felt it through larger class sizes, fewer electives and shorter library hours, just to name a few. Despite best efforts of teachers and administrators, these budget cuts have impacted our students' education.

As teachers we feared additional cuts would subject our students to even fewer services, limiting their educational opportunities even more. Thanks to you, the voters, we will be able to protect our students from further ramifications of these state and federal budget cuts.

We feel very fortunate and take great pride in working in and serving a community that shares our interest in providing a high quality education to our youth.

We'd also like to thank the community members who formally participated on the levy committee; the PTO members who worked hard to educate their families, friends and neighbors of our need; and all the other community members who took an active yet informal role in promoting the levy.

Wendy Benton, President,

The Crestwood Education Association
