Leona Lemley, 91 passed from this earthly life March 24, 2013 while wintering in Florida. She was born at home April 24, 1921 to Herman & Bertha (Rawson) Flinn in Rockport, WV the eldest of 5 children.
She attended the one room school house at Pond Creek to the 8th grade, walking more than 2 miles one way; then she attended and was graduated from Parkersburg High School thus completing the then - required 11 years of schooling. She much later was graduated from Bohecker's Business College in Ravenna after moving to Ravenna.
From early on, she attended the Jerry's Run Baptist church in WV until moving to Ohio in 1941. She then attended the Nazarene Church of Ravenna for many years serving as Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, missionary president and church board member. She also sang in the choir. She most recently attended Bethel Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Streetsboro and then Windham United Methodist Church.
She worked at Lamb Electric/Ametek in Kent, Ohio, retiring in 1983. Then she and her husband Clark spent many winters in Florida until 2004.
She found great delight in spending time with her family and friends, doing craft work and rolling bandages for missions at the Nazarene Church.
She is survived by her sons, Paul (Shera) of Zephyrhills, FL and Gary (Tina) of Ravenna; grandchildren, Mark (Ginger) of Streetsboro, Michael (Ranea), Tami Lemley all of Ravenna and Tawni (Robert) Pophal of Lima, Ohio, 7 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, sister, Lyla Rogers and sister-in-law, Joan Sabo both of Rootstown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Clark in 2007 (who she married April 8, 1939), her parents, brother, Darrell Flinn in 1976, sister, Lerah Hale in 1995 and brother, Clarence Flinn in 2011.
Family and friends may call from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday, March 29, 2013, at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, where services will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Robert Pophal officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
