Lauris Rae MacEwen, 75, passed away March 23, 2013. Lauris was born in Mantua, OH to the late Lawrence Ray and Esther (Gratz) Parker.
She has lived in Brimfield since 1964. Lauris was a sales manager with Prudential and a member of St. Peter of the Fields. She was a member and soloist of the Ravenna Community Choir, Lector, Cantor and choir member at St. Peter of the Fields. She volunteered with Sister Jordan at the Portage Jobs and Family Services giving her time to serve others at the Center of Hope, County Clothing Center, Kent Hot Meals. Lauris raised her children as a single parent. She loved to cook and host holiday gatherings. She was an animal lover and always had kitties or a dog and enjoyed watching birds.
She is survived by daughters, Danielle Martter of Tallmadge and Debbi Labbe of Cuyahoga Falls; sons, Scott MacEwen of Chicago, and Jack (Annette) MacEwen of Stow; sister, Nancy Sue (Lawrence) Parker Halvey of Florida; grandchildren, Joshua, Erik, Ian, Kaitlin, Cori, Dylan; great grandchildren, Emily and Owen; special aunt, Irene Gratz of Kirtland; cousin, Robert Gratz; she was known as aunt Doty to Connie, Michelle, Michael, Kelly, Wendy, and Jill.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013 at St. Peter of the Fields, 3487 Old Forge Rd., Rootstown, OH 44272 with Rev. Fr. David Misbrener officiating.
Procession will form at the church.
Visitation will be 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle) The Rosary will be said at 4 p.m., There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Portage County Animal Protective League, 8122 Infirmary Rd., Ravenna, OH 44266, St. Peters Building Fund, or the Brimfield Fire Department, 1333 Tallmadge Rd., Brimfield, OH 44240.
