James G. Courtad, 81 years of age, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Twinsburg Medical Center in Twinsburg, Ohio. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 11, 1931, he was the son of the late Raymond and Eleanor (Lally) Courtad.
Formerly of Northfield, Mr. Courtad had been a resident of Aurora since 1988. Mr. Courtad proudly served his country in the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Marine Corps, and was a member of American Legion Post No. 0196 in Brecksville. He had been employed at Ford Motor Company Walton Hills Division as a supervisor, retiring in 1985 after 25 years of service. He was a longtime member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Northfield, and was presently a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Aurora. Mr. Courtad was an avid sports fan, and truly enjoyed attending along with his wife, the sporting events of their grandsons.
On September 3, 1951, he married his beloved wife, Cathryn (Adams) Courtad who survives at home. Also surviving is his devoted son, Dennis (Mary Chris) Courtad of Aurora, his sister, Anna Marie Courtad, his loving grandsons, Christopher, Timothy, Thomas and Nicholas Courtad all of Aurora, and great-grandchildren Cole, Kara, Curt, Cal, Carmen, Camryn, Vincent, Domnic, Rocco, Presley and Roman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 342 S. Chillicothe Rd., Aurora, Ohio 44202 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. James M. Daprile, PhD-Pastor officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of mass. Final resting place will follow at Aurora City Cemetery, where military honors will be provided by the U.S. Marine Corps, assisted by members of Mantua American Legion Post No. 193. In lieu of flowers,memorials are requested to St. Augustine Catholic Church Hunger Center, 2486 W. 114th. St., Cleveland, Ohio 44113. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua.
