Anthony Dascenzo

Anthony Dascenzo, 75 of Streetsboro passed away on March 12, 2013 at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio. He was born on June 10, 1937 in Brownsville, PA to the late Antonio and Genoveffa (Lucantonio) Dascenzo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ezio Dascenzo and Ercole Dascenzo, and sisters, Elizabeth Furlong, Theresa Adamson, and Lucy Libertini. He is survived by a sister, Norma Magrey of Brook Park, OH, brothers, Guido of Brook Park, OH, Albert (Amelia) of Canonsburg, PA, Richard (Darlene) of Hiller, PA and brother-in-law, Douglas Adamson of Westfield, IN.

He graduated from Brownsville Senior High School with the class of 1956. He joined the US Navy after graduation from high school and served in the US Navy from June, 1956 until May, 1960. He served on the USS Independence and the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. He was honorably discharged.

He then went to the Toledo, OH school of Meat Cutting where he graduated and later retired after 40 years from Heinen's Supermarkets in Warrensville Hts, OH. On November 12, 1960, he married his wife of 52 years, Jean Ann (Pettit).

They have two children Anthony Albert (Donna Rayleen) Dascenzo, Donna Jean (Darrel) Gros, five grandchildren Lisa, Amanda, Zachary, Brandon and Matthew.

Tony was an avid sports fan. He coached baseball for several years. He loved fishing and especially the annual weekly fishing trip with family and friends. He loved his boat and his truck. He served on the planning & zoning committee for Streetsboro for several years. In his day he enjoyed bowling, playing and coaching baseball. He also enjoyed playing Phase 10, Sequence, Skip Bo, any card game, you name it he was willing to learn it and try to beat YOU. He also like going to the casino, race track, playing blackjack, poker and tried to hit the big lottery.

As everyone knew he loved and enjoyed and was very proud to make the Italian Pizzilles. He also was very proud of his Italian sausage, peppers and onions that he lovingly made. He will be surely missed by his loving family, his many nieces and nephews and his many friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1 PM Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Streetsboro United Methodist Church in Streetsboro with Reverend Byron George officiating. The family will hold a reception at the church following the services. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to the Streetsboro United Methodist Church, 8940 State Route 43, Streetsboro, OH 44241.
