David B. Simpson
David B. Simpson, 66, of Hiram passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012, surrounded by his family, at Ames Hospice Center in Westlake, Ohio. He was born January 3, 1946 in Warren to the late Vandell E. and Mary Garnet (McLeod) Simpson.
David was employed with Parker Hannifin in Electrical Maintenance in Ravenna for the past 38 years. In his younger days he was an avid Horseman, a Volunteer fireman for Hiram Fire Dept. He also worked at the Hiram Light Plant, a lineman for Ohio Edison, and a carpenter for Sea World. He enjoyed Kayaking, reading, woodworking, loved to tell jokes, woodcarving, whistling, and listening to classical music. He also was very proud of building his home with his family. He loved spending time with his family, representing the Clan McLeod Society at Highland Games, and was learning to play the bagpipes.
Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Linda R. (Malobenski) Simpson, daughter, Heather of Fairbanks, AK, son David (Angie) of Lachine, MI, grandchildren, Ian, Maddelynn, Silas, sister, Phyllis Ellenberger of Hiram, brothers, Vandell (Norma) Simpson Jr., of Hiram, Robert Simpson of Garrettsville, and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Simpson of Windham. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles "Butch" Simpson, sister-in-law, Ginny Simpson, and brother-in-law, Wally Ellenberger.
There will be calling hours held from 9:00 AM till time of Mass, at the Church, The Mass will be held 10:00 AM Friday, December 21, 2012 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Garrettsville. Father Leo Wehrlin will be officiating. There will be a viewing and a gathering of family and friends from 1 - 4 and 6 - 8 PM Friday, December 21, 2012 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel.
