Glenn R. Moravec

MANTUA Glenn R. Moravec, 85 years of age, became Our Gift to God on Sunday, November 11, 2012, Veterans Day, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, Ohio. Glenn was God's Gift to Us on July 14, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Frank and Emma (Blaha) Moravec. A graduate of East High School, he then served his country proudly during World War II in the United States Navy. For 38 years, he was employed as a lineman for the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company. A resident of the Mantua area the past 37 years, Mr. Moravec attended Streetsboro Church of God where he loved his church and the members he grew to know. Glenn held memberships in the Aurora V.F.W. and W.K. Ricksecker Lodge No. 606 F.&A.M. of Aurora. Golfing and feeding the birds were special enjoyments he did in his spare time. On September 6, 1975, he married Mary (Mellott) Moravec who survives at their home. Also surviving are his children, Jeffrey Moravec of Mantua, Jon Moravec of Ravenna, Jill (Don) Skonieczny of Aurora and JoAnn (Joe) Kist of Akron, 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and his 4-legged child Jo Jo. No calling hours. A memorial service to honor his life will be held Friday, November 16, 2012 at the Green Family Funeral Home and Crematory Service in Mantua at 5:00 P.M. with Rev. John McLung officiating. Cremation has taken place and a private family inurnment will be held at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township at a later date. The family requests NO FLOWERS. It is suggested that those who desire, please consider memorials in his name to the Portage County APL. His family also would like to extend a special thank you to the Mantua- Shalersville Fire Department and to the Hiram Fire Department.
