Born May 8, 1916 in Follansbee, W.Va., she was the daughter of William and Georgena (Whittaker) Eakins.
Mrs. Kearns worked as a manager for several taverns in Newton Falls. She also worked at the Ravenna Arsenal during World War II and for a dry cleaner.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church in Newton Falls and Gold Star Mothers.
Survivors include her sons, Thomas of Florida and John of Newton Falls; daughter, Kathleen Ainsworth of Lake Milton; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, James, Josh and Robert, all of Braceville, and Evan of Indiana; and sisters, Margaret Davis and Dorthea Snowden, both of Cortland, Dorie Beckner of Braceville, and Georgena Eakins of Florida. Her husband, Michael, whom she married Oct. 21, 1932, died Feb. 25, 1971. Her son, Michael Jr., died in 1957 and a sister died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Borowski Funeral Home in Newton Falls. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church in Newton Falls.
