Born in Duston-on-Tyne, England, he moved to New York City at age 11. He moved to Armonk, N.Y. in 1953 and later moved to Clearwater, Fla. in 1978.
Mr. Egdell worked for International Business Machines for 30 years until he retired.
He was a member of Armonk Methodist Church and Union Street Methodist Church, where he was active in the choir, On Top of the World Golf, Kiwanis Club and the Art Guild.
In addition to Dr. and Mrs. Egdell, survivors include his wife, Margaret "Peggy," to whom he was married for 56 years; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service ws held Nov. 27 at Union Street Methodist Church in Clearwater, Fla.
