Born Oct. 27, 1918, in Ravenna, he was the son of Arthur Grohe and Ethel Billingham.
Grohe worked as a purchasing agent at Duracote Rubber until he retired. He also had worked as a bookeeper for Eastpark Restaurant in Ravenna.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy in World War II, he was a past grand knight and financial secretary for Ravenna Knights of Columbus No. 1417, past usher for Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna and a member of Ravenna Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1055.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth (Martin) Grohe of Ravenna; two daughters, Mrs. Louis (Donna) Drouhard of Rootstown and Mrs. Anthony (Michele) Dowdy of Ravenna; three sons, William "Bill" Grohe of Ravenna, David Grohe of Aurora and Andrew Grohe of Las Vegas; and seven grandchildren. His sister, Irene Grohe, and three brothers, Howard Grohe, Bill Grohe and Kenneth Grohe, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel, with Knights of Columbus service at 8 p.m. Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna with Father Leo Wehrlin officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Ravenna.
