Born March 7, 1917, in Fort Gay W. Va., she was the daughter of the Rev. Perry E. Stout and Elsie Brown Stout. She lived in Akron and Bridgeport, W. Va. a major portion of her life.
Browning was an accountant at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. for 21 years until she retired in 1967. She also was a co-owner of Shay's Grocery store in Akron.
She was a founding member of the Faith Fellowship Church in Clarksburg, W. Va. and she volunteered extensively at the Veteran's Hospital in Clarksburg. She had a love for cooking and growing roses.
Survivors include a son, Orray Nelson (Bev) Shay II of Deerfield; daughters, Bettie (Joe) Amoroso of Stow, and Charlene (Jon) Vohs of Cuyahoga Falls; a stepson, Donald (Miriam) Browning of Lake Ridge, W.Va.; stepdaughter, Patty Sands of Clarksburg, W. Va.; 13 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; and many great- and great-great grandchildren; two brothers, the Rev. Edward Joseph and Dave Bernard, both of Akron; and a sister, Rosemary Stout of Virginia. Her first husband, Orray N. Shay I of Newburg, W. Va.; her second husband, C. Arden Browning of Marbleton, W. Va.; and a daughter, Donna Kay Jackson, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, and from 11 a.m. until noon Saturday at the Church in Silver Lake, 2951 Kent Road (S.R. 59). Services will be held at noon at the church with a lunch following at 2 p.m.
