Born March 2, 1908 in Scott County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Ora and Lettie (McCullough) Reid. She was a graduate of Purdue University.
Mrs. Umbaugh had been a school teacher in Argos, Ind., and Tallmadge.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Kent. She was active in the Akron Area Girl Scout Council and was a past president of the Junior Tuesday Club.
Survivors include her son, James of Hiram; daughter, Barbara Mcdevitt of Ravenna; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Willis and Frank Reid; and sister, Gail Woodruff. Her husband, Kenneth, whom she married in 1933, died previously.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the United Church of Christ in Kent. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna. Arrangements are being made by Wood-Kortright Funeral Home in Ravenna.
