He was born Nov. 1, 1919, the son of William and Zola (Busbay) Franks. He had been a Portage County resident most of his life before moving to Alliance four years ago.
Mr. Franks retired in 1993 after 40 years as a barber, most of them in his own shop in Ravenna. He was a former member of the Akron Baptist Temple.
Survivors include his wife, LaVerne (Bowman); son, Jimmy of Alliance; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Chester "Chub" of Alliance, Ralph of Atwater, Donald of Randolph and Paul of Marlboro; and sister, Opal Border of Westlake. His sister, Thelma Steckel Cramer, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Wood-Kortright
Funeral Home, Atwater Chapel, where services will be held at 11 a.m.
Tuesday with the Rev. Dale Calloway and the Rev. Lawrence Oney
officiating. Burial will be in Atwater Cemetery.
