The extra point was blocked by Hiram freshman linebacker Jarrod Lewis, keeping the game in striking distance at 12-0 with 4:44 left in the half. Nearing the end of the half, Bashioum found the end zone again, this time from 4 yards out, on a scoring drive that was set up by another Ohio Wesleyan interception. The score gave OWU a 19-0 lead at the break. In the third quarter, the Bishops recorded their third interception of the game and found the end zone again when Daniel DeLay went 27 yards for the score to make it 25-0. The extra point on the DeLay TD was blocked by sophomore All-NCAC linebacker Jon Hull, and the Bishops led 25-0 after three quarters of play. Ohio Wesleyan tallied two more scores in the fourth quarter with a 1-yard TD run by Bashioum, his third of the day, and a 10-yard TD run by Steve Brown to give the Bishops a 38-0 lead with 10:57 to go. Hiram scored its only points of the game late in the fourth quarter on a 4-yard TD run by freshman running back Chris Austin that ended a seven-play, 80-yard drive. The 2-point conversion failed.
