Robert L. Burns, 79 of Ravenna passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at Robinson Memorial Hospital. He was born April 29, 1929 in Ellis, KS to the late Letson and Goldie (Swafford) Burns. He served with the US Army during WWII and the Korea War, where he received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Formerly of Florida he has lived in Ravenna since 1963. He was a member of the Ravenna VFW and the 7th Inf. Association "Raiders". He was a master carpenter loved camping, fishing, and traveling. He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Roberta "Sue" (Admire) Burns. Daughters, Yvonne (Mike) Kerrigan of Randolph, Marjorie (Ted) Speaker of Southington, Step daughters, Ana (Doug) Martin of Kent, Esther Perez of Ellet, Son, Raymond (Jill) Burns of Rootstown, Step son, Tony (Cindy) Perez of Ravenna, Sister, Lura of CO, Brothers, Paul of GA, and Leland of KS, Grandchildren, Michael and Melissa Kerrigan, Raechelle, Ashley and Valerie Speaker, Audrey and Emma Burns, great grandchildren, Cohen Speaker-Wilcox, step grandchildren, Dawn Schatzel, Robert Schleper Jr, Rachel Perez, Step great grandchildren, Jada Perez and Anthony Schatzel. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Esther, Ruby, Wanda, brothers, Leon, Lorraine, Claris, Raymond, Raford, David, and Earl, Calling hours will be held from 5 - 8 PM Friday, May 16, 2008 at the Shorts Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, May 17, 2008 with Rev. Randall Riley officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
