To the person(s) writing the Sound Off published May 12: While I appreciate that we are all entitled to our opinions, I do not agree with hiding behind anonymity. I am a Mantua resident and my opinion is that we should allow our new mayor more than five months to address the problems that have existed for years.

I am anxious to see what change can be brought about with patience, perseverance and some progressive thinking. The "old way" isn't working and is the reason so many of our problems exist today.

Mantua being "broke" is certainly not a situation that happened overnight. "Outrageous water bills" have been the norm in Mantua for several years. "Roads in desperate need of repair" have been in need of repair for several years.

Whether the mayor has public or private health insurance is the least of our concerns. Our long-standing council members need to work with the new mayor, the critics need to put their anonymous public grievances and naysaying on hold, and we all need to work toward preserving our community.

You asked for council to work with the new Mayor, that should be a two way street for all things to go well. Don't go behind councils backs to get your insurance. Don't stroll in and take over offices that aren't yours. First impressions are very important and my first impression is not a good one. Those "long standing" council members you speak of were elected to their positions also. To state that they are the reason for the villages problems is rediculous. Don't forget that the Mayors son was a past member of council and the head of finance, do you want to place blame? We will be waiting patiently to see what happens, but the start for this Mayor is going to take alot to get over. About $35,000 in insurance bills for 4 years would be a good start.
