Bud was born on July 1st, 1927, in Crucible, PA, to William Homer Shaw and Goldie Sappington Shaw (both deceased). He had four brothers and six sisters: He is survived by brother, James Shaw (Punta Gorda, FL). His other siblings included Wilbur Shaw, Charles Shaw, William Shaw, Mildred Shaw, Audrey Shaw, Vaughn Shaw, Hazel Shaw, Mary Shaw, and Edythe Shaw (all deceased). He graduated from Waynesburg High School in Waynesburg, PA. In 1943, Bud enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in World War II in the Pacific region.
