OUR VIEW: Make your voice heard: R-C recommendations on state, local issues on Tuesday's ballot

Voters in Portage County will be asked to decide on a number of issues ranging from constitutional amendments to local tax levies when they head for the ballot box Tuesday.

Don't let other people make those decisions for you. Exercise your right to vote.

The polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

While the Record-Courier has made no endorsements in any of the races involving candidates, these are our recommendations on the issues:

* State Issue 1: Constitutional amendment to issue bonds for veterans' bonuses. YES

* State Issue 2: Constitutional amendment to create the Ohio Livestock Care Standards Board. YES

* State Issue 3: Constitutional amendment to legalize casino gambling at four locations. NO

* Issue 4: Portage County Children's Services renewal levy. YES

* Issue 5: Portage County Health District (excludes Kent and Ravenna) additional levy. YES

* Issue 6: Portage County District Library. YES

* Issue 29: Repeal of zoning in Deerfield Township. NO

* Issue 38: Streetsboro school district operating levy. YES

* Issue 40: Crestwood school district, bond issue for new high school. YES

Please vote NO on 2. Even family farmers are against it.
