Students in the Health Careers Technologies Club and Cosmetology Club at Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent are organizing the ninth annual Theodore Roosevelt High School Craft Show, to be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 7 at the school. The event is open to the public.

Those who attend can browse among the handmade crafts, jewelry and one-of-a-kind items and find gifts for the upcoming holidays.

Students will be running a concession stand, offering homemade soups, sandwiches, baked goods and more.

A free children's craft table will be set up for the young children, so parents can take their time shopping.

Admission is $1, and 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit the students by offsetting the cost of their State Leadership Competition and Cosmetology State Board Exams.

Students in both programs also participate in many service projects throughout the year, such as collecting can tabs for Ronald McDonald House, Project Hope and Autism Speaks, co-organizing the American Red Cross Blood Drive at Roosevelt, collecting money for the Northeast Ohio chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and sponsoring a Holiday Giving Tree for needy families.

In addition, the Cosmetology School Hair Salon will be open to the community. Lab hours are 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Services such as haircuts, perms, color, facials, nails and pedicures are offered by students under the supervision of instructors Sandi Mellucci and Patti Eves. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 330-676-8776.
