f Newton Falls, Ohio entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 29, 2009, in Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, Ohio. On August 18, 1920, in Marrero, Louisiana, Frank was born the son of Nick and Lucie Absantio DeSalvo. At the age of seventeen, Frank served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 322nd Company out of Edinburg, Virginia. With the Corps, he served in the Forestry Division from October 28, 1937 to March 31, 1939. Formerly of Windham, Ohio, Frank had been a Newton Falls area resident since 1989. He had been employed for twenty-seven years at General Refractory in Warren, Ohio, retiring from his duties in 1993. On May 3, 1958, Frank DeSalvo and Evelyn Sajniak were united in marriage. They were blessed with two sons, David and Theodore. Frank had an outgoing personality and enjoyed the company of family and friends. He would enthusiastically use his culinary skills in preparing meals for the church benefits, local sporting fund-raisers and for any one that asked for his assistance. He was an ardent fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and a loyal fan of the football and basketball teams of the Windham Bombers. It was in September, that he last attended the basketball game of his grandson, just prior to his stroke. Frank cared deeply for his family and he was looking forward to the birth of his first great-grandchild. He was a parishioner of the Saint Mary and Saint Joseph Parish in Newton Falls, Ohio and also was a parishioner of the St. Michael Catholic Church in Windham, Ohio. Frank was a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council in Windham, Ohio. Memories of Frank will be carried on by his loving family, his sons and daughters-in-law, David and Kathleen DeSalvo of Rootstown, Ohio and Theodore and Coleen DeSalvo of Windham, Ohio; his two grandsons, Daniel and his wife, Heather DeSalvo and Dominic DeSalvo; his brothers, Anthony (Frances) DeSalvo, Jack DeSalvo, all of Windham, Ohio and Vince (Rita) DeSalvo of Champion, Ohio and his sister, Grace (Salvatore) DeBattista of New Orleans, Louisiana. Preceding Frank were his parents and his wife, Evelyn on February 12, 2000. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 1, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church in Windham, Ohio with the Rev. James P. Lang as celebrant. Frank will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery in Paris Township. The family requests that material tributes may be made in memory of Frank to the Windham Athletic Booster Club, 9530 Bauer, Windham, Ohio 44288.
