AKRON — Petland Inc. has closed an Ohio franchise store over a Facebook photo showing an employee who is from Ravenna bragging about drowning two injured rabbits.
Chillicothe-based Petland, which closed the Akron store Wednesday, calls the incident “horrific mistreatment” and says it prohibits employees from euthanizing any animal.
The store’s animals are being moved to another store.
Liz Carlisle, 20, of Ravenna, who has been charged with two counts of cruelty to animals is scheduled for arraignment on Aug. 17.
Senior Humane Officer Tim Harland of the Humane Society of Greater Akron says Carlisle told investigators it was her decision to drown the rabbits.
A woman answering at a phone listing under Carlisle’s address says she doesn’t live there. No attorney is listed in her court records.

JJ_IMPOSSIBLE:
One of the more sensible posts here, re PETA. Vick/Stallworth should have been reversed...at least.
PETAoids need to be fed to dogs, lions and bears, one piece at a time

I take my last statement back... they should put her in jail for being a flipping moron! In this day in age how in the hell could she not foresee criminal charges for posting footage and bragging about killing animals on the internet????????? We live in a day in age where PETA is so influential that Mikey Vick gets 2 years for fighting dogs and Stallsworth get 30 days for killing a person..... this dumb b*** might as well pressed charges against herself!

What's sick is that this person was bragging about drowning the animals on a social networking site as if that's the new cool thing to do... do I think she should get jail time? hell no... they're rabbits, but I think she should have to attend court ordered counseling. I don't believe there is a humane way to kill anything. That's like saying there's a humane way to execute a person. Point is we kill animals all the time. What's sick here is her bragging about it........
Anybody who disagrees with me should research hunting ammo... there is nothing humane about buckshot or hollow-tipped bullets.

Isnt the early warning signs of a serial killer the pleasure in torturing small animals?

This was not euthanizing~it was torturing. If she was trying to be humane she wouldn't have been yelling and cursing at them to just die while she drown them. She also would not have stood by and watch them mutilate each other! She is a sick freak and now her picture has been posted all over for the world to see and I am confident she will get her just reward!

How disgusting! I can't believe people are arguing the morality of killing two innocent animals. Any form of abuse/cruelty to any living thing is abhorrent to me, & there is no justification for this young woman's actions. Whether or not these animal's were sick or someone's pet etc. is irrelevent, she took the life of two living creatures & then proceeded to pose in a picture with a big smile. Sick!! If the animals needed to be euthanized this was not the way to do it, nor should she have been the one to make the decision.

Obviously Old MA is lost in trying to find the correct definition of humane, and euthanize. She didn't euthanize two animals, had she actually done that, she wouldn't be facing charges of animal cruelty. So yes, I know for a fact that obviously the drowning wasn't humane as why would they charge her with two counts of animal cruelty.
In YOUR world drowning is humane, so that is your opinion right? What makes your world view on it so much better and correct then anyone elses? Oh that's right. It doesn't.
I enjoy how you try and bring into account my "feelings" on the situation, where no where in my post had a really gotten into a feeling on it. Merely was pointing out the euthanasia doesn't include drowning in it's humane guidelines.
