GirlsAloud is new discussion groupMay 17, 2008
GirlsAloud is a newly established after school discussion group at Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent focusing on issues facing young women today. At a recent meeting, the teens welcomed two guest speakers. Seated, from left, are Ashanti Lewis, freshman, and Elizabeth Thomas, sophomore. Standing are Chandice Lockett, junior; Rachel Oldham, adviser and faculty member; Laura Barrett, guest from Family and Community Services of Portage County; and Heather Adams, director from Women's Resource Center, Kent State University. Future issues include self advocacy, healthy choices, positive self/body image, and women supporting women. The group meets Mondays after school. Timothy St. Hilaire/Record-Courier Comments
