Samuel Wayne Bombarger 86 of Kent passed away Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Robinson Memorial Hospital. He was born June 28, 1921 in Ravenna to the late Emmett E. and Ethel (Brockett) Bombarger. He graduated from Ravenna High School in 1941 and Lincoln Aeronautics Institute, where he received his pilots license before joining the Army Air Corp where he served during WWII. A lifelong resident of Portage County, Wayne was a member of the First United Methodist Church Ravenna, the Ravenna Lions, and loved to travel and fly. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Virginia (Campbell) Bombarger. dear father of Sandra (Philip) Rogers of Rootstown, proud grandfather of Dennis Wayne (Shelby) Rogers of Uniontown, John K. (Jennifer) Rogers of Ravenna, great grandchildren, Benjamin, Simon, and Heidi. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, May 12, 2008 at Maple Grove Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Vernon White will be officiating. Friends and family may call from 1:30 PM till time of service at the cemetery chapel. Shorts Funeral Home handling the arrangements.
