A Mantua woman who stole thousands of dollars from a Crestwood School District Parent Teacher Organization last year has pleaded guilty to a felony theft charge. Christy A. Bowne, 43, of North Main Street, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Common Pleas Judge Laurie Pittman's courtroom to one count of theft, a fifth-degree felony.
Pittman ordered a pre-sentence investigation. She terminated the house arrest requirement on Bowne's bond, and ordered her to immediately pay $2,008 in restitution to the Crestwood Intermediate School PTO, according to court records.
Bowne was charged in March with stealing more than $2,408 from the organization between Aug. 25 last year and Jan. 6 of this year, according to the Portage County Sheriff's Office. She did so by making 14 unauthorized transactions on a PTO account at a Mantua Township bank, according to an investigation.
An additional charge of misuse of a credit card, a fifth-degree felony, was dismissed by the Portage County Prosecutor's Office upon Bowne's guilty plea.
