A Brimfield man is being held in the Portage County jail after assaulting a woman and three children in their shared home in an incident this week.

Terry L. Riley Jr., 27, of 4664 S.R. 43, is charged with four counts of domestic violence, all fourth-degree felonies. Arraigned Tuesday in Portage County Municipal Court in Ravenna, he was ordered held on 10 percent of $50,000 bond pending future court dates.

A condition of Riley making bond is no contact with the alleged victims, according to court records.

According to Brimfield police, a domestic dispute turned violent when Riley allegedly grabbed a 30-year-old female family member by the neck, threw her into a wall and kicked a juvenile female.

Riley also allegedly assaulted the woman's sons, knocking one down and hitting him with a broomstick, and knocking a second down and pushing him down the stairs.

The charges all are felonies because Riley has a prior conviction for criminal damaging based on an initial arrest for domestic violence in Kent on Jan. 26, 2006, according to Brimfield police. Court records show that incident involved the same adult victim.
