A Kent woman has been sentenced to more than two years in prison for possessing heroin and cocaine in the presence of her children at a Brimfield hotel on Mother's Day.
Melissa R. Osborne, 24, of 430-A Middlebury Road, recently was sentenced to 30 months in prison by Portage County Common Pleas Judge John Enlow, who also fined her $10,000. She was credited with 176 days served in the Portage County jail awaiting trial in two cases.
Osborne pleaded guilty in September to possession of heroin and possession of cocaine, both third-degree felonies, obstructing justice, a fifth-degree felony, and two counts of endangering children, both first-degree misdemeanors.
Osborne and her boyfriend, Steven A. Bianca, 33, formerly of Ravenna, were charged with multiple drug-related felonies after Brimfield police officers investigating a report of a stolen car at the Days Inn on Edson Road found cocaine, heroin, marijuana, prescription pills and $2,600 in cash in their room on May 13.
Osborne's daughters, ages 3 and 6, were placed with a relative. Osborne was arrested but Bianca fled and was on the run for three days before police found him hiding inside the attic of a house on Sandy Lake Road in Brimfield. Osborne, who was free on bond at the time, was charged with obstructing justice for hiding Bianca there.
While on the run from police, Bianca also assaulted and robbed a Ravenna Township woman of her cell phone on May 14.
