It appears that this summer is shaping up to be an exciting one. With the Ravenna Balloon A-Fair set to be Sept. 14 through 17, "Art on Main" on June 24 and the many cruise-ins planned throughout the summer at A&W, a new event is being planned for the downtown area.
Immaculate Conception Parish will be hosting a music, food and cruise-in festival from 5 to 11 p.m. Aug. 18 and from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Aug. 19. The festival will take place on the school grounds at Spruce Avenue and South Sycamore Street, with the area being blocked to traffic around the event.
Bring your chair and pick your spot and relax both evenings. Major headlining band Phil Dirt & the Dozers will be performing Saturday night with various other bands performing both evenings.
Saturday morning and afternoon is being planned for a high school band showcase, where various area bands will perform their music for their upcoming season.
In addition, there will be various food vendors, and a cruise-in down South Meridian Street both days of the festival.
Ravenna Titans Baseball Academy will host both a corn-hole tournament and knockerball events in the parish's social hall throughout the event.
Available now and during the event will be the sale of raffle tickets to win either a two-year lease on a Chevy Colorado truck (with all fees paid) from Sarchione Chevrolet in Randolph, or a Disney Florida vacation package that includes a resort home in Orlando and four hopper tickets to Disney.
Each ticket is $25 and can be purchased online at www.icparishfestival.com.
Tickets for the truck can be purchased as Sarchione Chevrolet. Tickets for the vacation package, as well as the truck lease, also can be purchased at Portage Community Bank branches in both Ravenna and Kent as well as the Ravenna Area Chamber of Commerce during normal business hours.
There also will be a 50/50 raffle and instant bingo. Go to www.icparishfestival.com for details on the festival and updates.
