The Friends of Melana Committee is busy preparing for its third annual 5K run/walk during Summerfest 2013. The event will take place at 9 a.m. June 30, with the race beginning at the Main Stage on Main Street.
Proceeds from this event benefit Childhood Glioma Cancer research. Runners and walkers are able to register online at www.summerfest5k.eventbrite.com. The Garrettsville Curtains Up Theatre is happy to announce auditions for "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" at 6 p.m. April 19 and 20 in the choir room of James A. Garfield High School. Please have a short monologue and song ready for your audition.

The Nelson-Garrettsville Food Cupboardwill host two fundraisers. The first is on April 6 and is anall-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner and Chinese auction to raise funds for the Nelson-GarrettsvilleFood Cupboard, which feeds more than 140 families and is growing. The meal will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Nelson Community Center. All funds raised will be matched by the Feinstein Foundation. Adult meals are$7 and kids' (ages 3 to 12) meals are$4.

The second fundraiser will be held on April 2. This event is the Fill the Fire Truck Food Drive to be held at Sky Plaza IGAfrom 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All food and money collected will go directly to the Nelson-Garrettsville Food Cupboard and will be matched by the Feinstein Foundation.
Auditions for the Garrettsville Summerfest will be held on April 14. Adults will compete for a $1,000 cash prize, with the final round held during the Summerfest on June 30.
The open call auditions are scheduled for 1 p.m. April 14 at James A. Garfield High Schools' Iva Walker Auditorium. Please be prepared to sing an entire song without musical accompaniment.
The closed audition consists of three age brackets: youth 8 to 12, teens 13 to 17 years, and adults 18 years and up. The youth auditions will start at 1 p.m., the teens at 2 p.m., and adults at 3 p.m. Please arrive 15 minutes early to fill out a biography sheet.

Registrations are also being accepted by mail or by dropping them off at Garrettsville Summerfest at 8311 Windham St., Garrettsville, OH 44231. Please include your name, address, phone number and birth date.
The James A. Garfield Theatre Department will present "The Wizard of Oz" on April 4, 5, 6 and 7. Tickets are on sale now at $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Call 330-527-4341 to buy your tickets.
