The Portage County Teen Board has chosen Rachel Loshark and Jake Moore as the Teens of the Month for December.
Rachel is the daughter of Gary and Judi Loshark of Atwater. She attends Waterloo High School and Maplewood Career Center in Ravenna.
She has been active in Student Council and was president of the National Honor Society and vice president of Medical Assisting Lab office.
She won the Leadership Award and Volunteer in Action award and has been on the honor roll multiple times. She also was a participant in Skills USA.
She likes to fish, go boating and camping, and work on vehicles. She loves to take care of animals and listen to country music.
After high school, Rachel plans to take classes and work as an State Tested Nursing Assistant, then attend nursing school to become a nurse at a local hospital or doctor's office. In the far future, she would like to study to become a nurse anesthesiologist.
Jake is the son of David and Kristine Moore of Rootstown.
At Rootstown High School, he has been class secretary and was involved in Student Council, National Honor Society, football and wrestling.
He has earned letters in football and wrestling, was team captain in both, earned fourth-place wrestling All-Ohio and Academic All Ohio, and was an attendant at Buckeye Boys State.
He enjoys wrestling, listening to music, and spending time with friends.
After high school, Jake would like to attend college, then graduate school, and earn a doctorate in chiropractic medicine.
