Canton Ballet, under artistic and executive director Cassandra Crowley, announces community volunteers Donna and Robert Leibensperger as special honorees for its ninth annual Nutcracker Ball, to be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday. The event, the ballet's largest fundraiser, will be held in the Great Court of the Cultural Center for the Arts, located at 1001 Market Ave. North in Canton.
The Leibenspergers, known for their gifts of service and support to area nonprofit organizations, are longtime community volunteers, primarily in the areas of arts and education.
The theme of Nutcracker Ball 2012 is Russian after the Trepak, a dance in Canton Ballet's holiday program "The Nutcracker." A cash wine and beer bar including a Mad Russian martini will be offered along with an elegant Russian small plate buffet and desserts directly from the Land of Sweets. There will be silent and live auctions, a cork sale of fine or fabulous wines, a display of Nutcracker ornaments to take home, and entertainment by company members of Canton Ballet. Cocktail or business attire is recommended.
Proceeds from the Nutcracker Ball 2012 will benefit the School of Canton Ballet's financial aid, student outreach and education programming. The general chair is Cheli Curran, assisted by acquisitions chair Lisa Mears.
Reservations are $75 per person and may be made by calling or visiting the Canton Ballet office at 330-455-7220 in the Cultural Center for the Arts. Tables of eight are available.
