The first item this time is a belated birthday wish for Maxine Knapp of Atwater.
The 90th birthday party for Maxine was held Oct. 6 at the Randolph Community Center. A proclamation, given by the Portage County commissioners declaring Oct. 6, 2012, throughout the county as Maxine Knapp Day, was read and presented by County Commissioner Maureen Frederick.
Guests in attendance looked at a storyboard display and video showing pictures past and present of Maxine's life. Instead of gifts, guests were asked to donate to the Atwater, Randolph, Suffield Food Shelf and as a result a carload of items was taken to the food bank.
The celebration was hosted by her children and attended by more than 150 people. The guests included all of her six children, eight of her 10 grandchildren and six of her 10 great grandchildren. Maxine and Donald, her husband of 69 years, got to spend time visiting with all the extended family and friends who were there, and would like to thank everyone for making her 90th birthday party so enjoyable and memorable!
