The Thursday Literary Club recently held its March meeting at the Jenkins Building Annex to Reed Memorial Library in Ravenna. Hostess Jeannette Marvin and her co-hostesses, Alberta Oostdyk and Ilene Snyder, served cake with a green St. Patricks Day theme.
New member Pat Kelley was presented with a red rose and welcomed by all. Peg Dickey then presented the program on verses based on limericks. Members found it interesting to learn that many notable authors of novels also wrote limericks. To end her program, Dickey read a couple of limericks that she had composed.
A brief business meeting was called to order by President Lena Brittain. A nominating committee presented a slate of officers for 2003-04.
New officers include Karen Hazelett, president; Judy Richards, vice president; Donna Kline, secretary; and Ida Mae Blinebery, treasurer. These officers were declared elected unanimously.
The meeting closed with members answering roll call with a good deed.
The next meeting will be held April 10 at the Strickland House on the grounds of the Portage County Historical Society in Ravenna. Roll call will be answered with members secrets to good health.
