PORTAGE COUNTYSenior Services seeks Hall nominations

In preparation for the eighth annual Senior Celebration of Achievement on May 14, Portage County Senior Services is seeking nominations for the Portage County Senior Citizens Hall of Fame.

Any senior citizen who is at least 55 years old and has lived in Portage County for at least five years is eligible.

The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to promote a positive image of aging. Individuals who embody that image serve their families, neighborhoods and churches.

Sally Kelly, director of Portage County Senior Services, said, This service may be formal or informal and have occurred in the fields of education, communications, business, medicine, religion, athletics, government or the arts. Or perhaps they have just been an extremely dependable neighbor who is always there.

A simple application form needs to be completed and is available by calling Portage County Senior Services at (330) 297-3456.

One winner will be chosen in each of three categories: male, female, and couple (of whom both must be 55 or older.)

Winners will be announced at the Portage County Senior Citizens Celebration of Achievement on May 14 at the Kent American Legion Hall.
