The Portage County Genealogical Society recently gathered for a program led by Dottie Summerlin, president of the Mantua Historical Society. She presented a video tape detailing the recovery of the Confederate submarine CSS Hunley, which was lost in battle during the Civil War and recently retrieved from the bottom of the ocean. The Genealogical Society will next meet at 2:30 p.m. March 15 at the Portage County Historical Society, 6549 N. Chestnut St., in Ravenna for a presentation on pioneer women.
