Ryan Schilling, a senior at Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent, congratulates fourth-graders at Franklin Elementary School in Kent, from left, Abby Nolin, Taylor Murphy, Logan Bialik and Noura Barazi on their Read to Feed project success. Schilling chaired the fund-raising effort to help poverty stricken families in their world countries through the Heifer International Project. Leslie Leonards senior English classes at Roosevelt organized three presentations for Regina Heimanns and Jenn Yakubisins students to strengthen their commitment to reading and serving others. The fourth-graders raised more than $500 to purchase a llama, a water buffalo, two flocks of geese, a flock of chicks, and a hive of bees for needy families.
