Portage County commissioners and the Dog Warden are giving thanks to the community and the rescue community from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday with a special adoption event and volunteer/rescue open hous.

All dog adoptions will be $25, which includes a dog license, rabies/distemper/bortadella vaccines and a heartworm test.

Bring your family members and pets to meet the adoptables at the Portage County Dog Pound to make sure its a good match for all. While supplies last, there will also be martingale collars and crates available for purchase to help settle your new adoptee.

The dog warden and staff are also celebrating the rescue community. They are inviting past, current and future volunteers to come out and have lunch with them during this event. If you are a rescue volunteer and haven't visited the pound -- stop by and get a tour.

The pound is at 8120 Infirmary Road in Shalersville.
