Free water testing at King of Glory Church in Streetsboro

Free well water testing will again be offered Jan. 6 at the King of Glory Church in Streetsboro.

The testing, offered by Concerned Citizens Ohio, will begin at 3:15 p.m. at the church, located next to the Streetsboro Post Office in the Streetsboro Plaza, just off S.R. 303.

Two teams of trained water testers will test for the chemicals and salts that can show possible contamination from nearby drilling for gas and oil wells.

"While we are not EPA certified, our monthly tests are a little like keeping track of your blood pressure," said George Sosebee, one of the testers.

Samples of water should be taken before treatment by water softeners or water heaters. Cold water should run freely for several minutes and be collected in a clean glass jar with a clean wide lid, like a jelly jar. At least two cups of water is advised. Samples should be taken the day of the test.

Concerned Citizens Ohio offers the free testing the first Sunday of every month in the space donated by the King of Glory Church. While each test only takes minutes, the lines are long, so those interested are advised to arrive at 3:15 to get a number. For further information, call Mary Greer, 330-472-8086.
