Ray Liotta, who plays the chief of a tight band of Brooklyn detectives in "Shades of Blue," returning to NBC tonight, is sticking up for the police. "I really respect and am thankful to policemen, as I am to servicemen, the people that protect us in our armed forces," he says.
"What you don't see is what happens every day, what happened the day before, the close call that maybe they could have lost their life really quick, and that bleeds over to what happens in some of these instances," he says.
It's tragic when policing mistakes are made, he says. "When you really think about it, as horrible as it is, the percentage is really, really low as compared to all the good that they do There's good, there's bad, but to live that lifestyle, to be involved in danger day in and day out, it's always with you."
