Monday

David S. Lawson Jr., 32, of Kent. Sentencing, 9 a.m. Portage County Common Pleas Judge Laurie Pittman's courtroom. Lawson faces 15 years to life in prison and sex offender registration after pleading guilty to rape, a first-degree felony, on Nov. 21. Lawson admitted he raped an underage girl, who was 8 when the abuse began, starting in April 2008 and continuining for about two years.

James M. Goughler, 47, of Ravenna Township. Sentencing, 9 a.m., Pittman's courtroom. Lawson faces up to 18 months in prison and a driver's license suspension after pleading guilty to operating a vehicle under the influence, a fourth-degree felony, in October. He was pulled over by Ravenna police on Cleveland Road on Aug. 6 and found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. The arrest was Goughler's sixth drunken driving offense in the last 20 years.
