COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Incumbent state lawmakers in Ohio were leading in 11 primary races across the state, including the House Democratic leader.

Rep. Armond Budish (BYOO'-dish) of Beachwood is one of six incumbent House Democrats with a primary opponent on Tuesday. He had a strong lead in early returns.

Republican Rep. Jarrod Martin of Beavercreek was not faring as well against his two challengers. He's one of six incumbent Republican representatives with primary challengers.

Republican Peggy Lehner of Kettering was the only sitting senator in a primary contest. She had 80 percent of the vote in early returns.

The GOP has three Ohio Senate primaries and 18 Ohio House matchups. Democrats have 14 House contests and no Senate races.

Contenders include public workers who were against the union-limiting bill passed last spring by the Republican-dominated General Assembly.
